Presently the Head of the Department, Dr. Subash K. has been into teaching at the post-graduate level for the past 27 years. He is also the Research Guide for PhD programme in the University of Kerala and the University of Calicut. ‘Reflections on Media Credibility’, a book on the credibility factor of present media is written by him. He has published several research papers in the area of communication studies in national / international journals. He is a member of the Commonwealth Association for Education in Journalism and Communication and also of the Indian Council for Communication Training and Research. His prime areas of teaching are ‘Reporting’, ‘Research Methodology’ and ‘Advertising’.
Rekha M. Sasidharan
Rekha M. Sasidharan, a well-experienced faculty of the department is a Selecton Grade Lecturer. Her focus areas of teaching are ‘Advertising: Theory & Practice’, ‘Media Law & Ethics’ and ‘Corporate Management & Public Relations’.
K.V. Ramankutty

A Graduate in Engineering and a Master of Photography and Cinema, K.V. Ramankutty is an excellently experienced teacher of film, photography and television. Apart from his teaching experience, he had scripted and directed many documentaries and short films. ‘Satyajit Ray’s Pather Panchali’ and ‘Modern Cinema in Malayalam’ are two books that add to his credit.

A communication educator in the department since 1985, P.V. Yaseen is a specialist in Public Communication Campaigns. He has many articles and book chapters on Communication to his credit. In the department he teaches ‘Introduction to Mass Communication’, ‘Communication: Theory and Applications’, ‘Public Communication Campaigns’ and ‘Development Communication’.

M. Vijayakumar who has worked with All India Radio (AIR), Thiruvananthapuram as Assistant Editor (Reporting) for almost six years is currently a Selection Grade Lecturer in the department. He has also done many TV programmes for Doordashan. The subjects that he handles in the department include ‘Reporting’, ‘Radio Programme Production’, ‘Television News’, ‘Cyber Journalism’, ‘Science Reporting and Film Appreciation’.
